How to Rock a Little Black Dress
A little black dress (LBD) is a black evening or cocktail dress, cut simply and often quite short. Its ubiquity is such that it is often simply referred to as the "LBD". The Little Black Dress can be minimal, versatile, affordable and elegant: the Little Black Dress has been a timeless staple in every woman's wardrobe for almost a century now.
“You can wear black at any time. You can wear it at any age. You may wear it for almost any occasion; a ‘little black frock’ is essential to a woman’s wardrobe.” – Christian Dior

So it is no secret that I adore dresses and skirts. I remember when I first started dating my husband and he asked me if I ever wore jeans. My reply was that I only owned one pair and I never wore them. No joke! All through my 20's I only wore dresses and skirts, all year long. I loved short skirts and tights and that is basically all I ever wore.
I remember after I married and had a few babies my mother in law told me I was too old to be wearing short skirts any longer. "Now that you are a mother" I thought that was one of the funniest things I had ever heard. Just because I am a mom doesn't mean I have a specific uniform that I must wear. Because believe me, I will not ever wear sweats, yoga pants or pajama bottoms outside of my home! ☺
One thing I learned from my grandmother a long time ago was to take the few extra minutes before you leave the house to make yourself presentable. Because, appearance does matter. Yes, appearance totally does matter! And I am not stating this in an attempt to say that women need to be concerned with vanity or that we are objectified if we don't look presentable. I simply mean to look presentable. I always took my grandmothers words to heart, and they were simple . . . "if you clean yourself up every single day, you will feel better". So simple and so true.
So everyday, before I leave the house, I make myself presentable. I don't look like a made up model everyday, but I certainly, in my grandmother's words, 'clean myself up'. Some days I am more presentable than others, but most especially when I have a new dress! Today I am wearing this gorgeous Ruffle Yoke Dot Tulle Black Dress that is perfect for fall and the upcoming holidays! The mid-length sleeves on this little black dress from eShakti will keep me warm and not too hot this fall. in my dancing shoes this holiday season.
Look As Good As You Feel, Feel As Good As You Look
This little black dress has such simple, pretty detail on the top and the dotted tulle fit-and-flare dress brings all the feminine charm. It is so pretty and adds the right amount of romance to my fall wardrobe. What I adore about eShakti is that the possibilities with a simple dress are sort of endless.

This Ruffle Yoke Dot Tulle Black Dress actually came with short fluttering ruffle cap sleeves. But I knew I would want to wear this now, through the fall and into the winter. It is very cold here in Chicago and I wanted and needed sleeves. Thankfully, I was able to customize this little black dress and add some elbow length sleeves. The sleeves are just as delicate and pretty as the top of the dress and made of the same tulle as well.
This dress can be paired with high heels, fancy high heels, casual high heels, ankle boots, high boots or even sneakers. The black tulle dress is mid-length to the calf, and has a ruched pleated skirt. The Ruffle Yoke Dot Tulle Black Dress is available with two neckline (either boat or a high scoop), six different sleeve types (inset cap, capsleeve, short, elbow, three quarters, bracelet) and seven length options (mini, above the knee, knee, below knee, ankle, floor, full). It is so easy to make the little black dress suit your style! I selected a boat neckline, elbow length sleeves, knee length and I kept the pockets.
This black tulle dress is one that I absolutely adore! This tulle dress is going to be perfect for any holiday party coming up this year. We go to numerous events during the last two months out of the year. We attend orchestra concerts, holiday plays, church services and holiday parties for work, family and friends. I really wanted one dress that I could wear to all of these events and I found it!
It really just makes so much sense to get the most out of a dress than having to purchase numerous different outfits for various events. A little black tulle dress is such a versatile, worthwhile addition to any wardrobe.
Here is how I created three different looks in a matter of minutes with my eShakti Ruffle Yoke Dot Tulle Black Dress. I simply looked for items I already owed to achieve a different look. It is important to make sure you have a little black dress in your closet that is fun, beautiful and versatile, so you can wear it anytime and really anywhere.
How to Rock a Versatile Black Dress
1. Date Night
Dressing up a little black dress for a date night with the hubbie or a girls night out is super simple. The polka dot sheer mesh dress is the perfect backdrop to highlight all my favorite jewelry, shoes, handbags or jackets. This dress is great paired with high heels, boots or flats for date night. I chose simple bracelets in green tones, but this dress would be great with reds and teals as well. I also added a gorgeous draped shawl on my shoulders that I adore.
2. Add Some Layers
Since this little black dress is a bit sheer and doesn't have super long sleeves, adding a layer or two can completely change the look from date night to day wear. This dress would pair well with a leather jacket, suede jacket, or a jeans jacket. Add a jacket, long or short sweater, or add a colored scarf over the dress for a pop of color. I paired the dress with a leather jacket and some suede booties. This outfit could be changed up in so many different ways with different layers and all with the same little black dress!
3. Super Casual
I have three kiddos who I am chauffeuring all over the suburbs all day long. So, running about in high heels is not always the optimal choice for me. Sneakers are my daily choice if I am being honest here. So, yes, I totally chose some fluffy sneakers with this little black dress. This dress is so comfortable and soft and the little pom-pom sneakers just add so much fun to the outfit.
