The Best Family Thanksgiving Movies to watch to put you in the holiday spirit! I have compiled a list of the Best Family Thanksgiving Movies to Watch this season for good old fashioned family movie nights every weekend leading up to Thanksgiving!
It’s almost Thanksgiving! That means it is time to head straight to the sofa for family movie night! Now is the perfect time to begin my favorite Thanksgiving tradition of introducing and rewatching all the fantastic seasonal movies around Thanksgiving to my kids. We make homemade Chex Mix or Best Seasoned Popcorn and watch movies for hours since it is usually freezing here in Chicago on Thanksgiving!
We put a fire on, grab soft blankets, put on our fuzzy socks to watch all the Thanksgiving Classic movies with our favorite snacks!

Jim Henson's Turkey Hollow (2015)
Nothing says the holidays like a Jim Henson puppet spectacular! Dark Crystals in my daughter’s absolute favorite series, so Turkey hollow is A MUST SEE this season! Turkey Hollow is is a movie inspired by some of his unfinished works. Never before monster with a family theme about strengthening family bonds and communicating to resolve issues.
Free Birds (2013)
Free Birds is an animated comedy that is the perfect family movie. Two turkeys travel back in time to the year 1621, just before the first Thanksgiving. They want to prevent all turkeys from ever becoming holiday dinners.
Garfield's Thanksgiving (1996)
If there's one thing that Garfield knows how to do, it's celebrating a holiday that's all about food. Forget the turkey — where's the lasagna? Now, who else makes lasagna on Thanksgiving!?
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (1973)
I remember this from my childhood so much! Charlie Brown is CLASSIC Thanksgiving! This is one of the best Thanksgiving movies. Charlie Brown never fails to give all the fall feels! (Want to be able to watch Charlie Brown anytime - you can buy the Blu-ray.)

Winnie The Pooh is just for everyone, am I right?! The Season of GIving has "A Winnie the Pooh Thanksgiving", and other winter specials like "Groundpiglet Day" and the Christmas special, "Find Her, Keep Her".

The Addams Family Values has a new baby and Wednesday puts on a Thanksgiving pageant. Plus a twist! This is as hilarious as ever!!

I want to have Thanksgiving dinner with the Tuohys - wouldn’t that be a hoot!. It’s the love around that table that makes THanksgiving the best! This movie never fails to bring tears to the eyes and makes everyone be thankful for what they have!
You've Got Mail (1998)
You've Got Mail's is an iconic Thanksgiving movie with the grocery store scene, in which Joe steps in for a cashless Kelly after she mistakenly rings up her items in a cash-only line. YOU CAN'T-MISS IT! My kids know we always watch this one during November!
The Oath (2018)
Okay, now this one is fairly new, released just a couple of years ago — BUT - it’s a must-see! Watch it and wonder - WOULD YOU SURVIVE?? In the not-so-distant future, the government decides everybody must take a loyalty pledge on Black Friday. CAN YOU IMAGINE? This creates a rift during one family's Thanksgiving dinner.
Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987)
Here is another Thanksgiving classic that must be watched one night during November with the family! It is hilarious and warm and John Candy is just amazing! My kids think this is the BEST Thanksgiving movie of all time! Would you pull out ALL the stops to get home in time for Thanksgiving dinner?

Ever had incredibly bad luck on Thanksgiving? That is what happened to Claudia Larson. It sets her entire Thanksgiving weekend in motion. Somehow it all works out for the best!

Okay, here is another one that makes me roar with laughter every time I watch it. Ann Margeret is gorgeous as ever and the two old farts, Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, are HIL-AR-I-OUS!
Scent of a Woman (1992)
This takes place over Thanksgiving break for on student who agrees to take care of a blind veteran. Al Pacino is A-MAZ-ING and as gorgeous as ever! Pacino wound up earning an Oscar for this film. My kids thought it was great!

Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
It HAS to be the classic - literally, this one has to be the classic! Miracle on 34th Street actually opens during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.
Holiday Inn (1947)
Holiday Inn is most closely associated with Christmas, but the movie spans a year's worth of holidays, with Irving Berlin songs for almost all of them.
Babes in Toyland (1934)
Again, PLEASE, watch the original!! you've lived in certain parts of the country, an annual Thanksgiving showing of Babes in Toyland or March of the Wooden Soldiers was a yearly rite — TV station WPIX has aired the movie every year since 1963, just after the assassination of JFK. Keep the decades-long streak alive by showing your family the classic Laurel and Hardy version, where the comedic duo come across Mother Goose characters come to life.
