Don’t be intimidated by preparing a smoked beef brisket at home. If you think you need a smoker to smoke a beef brisket, you don’t. Smoking a beef brisket in your oven, right in your kitchen, is totally possible. All you need is time and a few ingredients to perfectly smoke a beef brisket in your oven.
My husband happens to love and adore smoked meats. I, on the other hand, can eat other meats first; but naturally I love to satisfy his stomach. So, I smoked a couple of beef briskets in my oven right in my own kitchen for my husband and I think he fell more in love with me than before. But honestly, I do think one of the main reason my husband married me is for my cooking abilities! ♥
It really couldn’t be easier to smoke an entire beef brisket in you own stove at home in your kitchen. Simply purchase a large beef brisket or do what I did and purchase two 5 pound beef briskets. Do not purchase the corned beef brisket - this will not work for this recipe and will not taste that pleasant either.
How to Smoke a Beef Brisket in the Oven
Smoked Beef Brisket
Ingredients
10 pound Beef Brisket
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup Raw Organic Honey
Dijon Mustard to coat
Brisket Dry Rub
1 tablespoon Liquid Smoke
1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
Instructions
To prep the brisket to cook in the oven: rinse with cold water and pat dry.
Spread dijon mustard evenly over your the brisket and then rub in a generous amount of the Brisket Dry Rub. The point is to have a lovely thick crust over the entire top of the brisket.
Wrap the whole brisket in plastic wrap (I put mine in a ziploc bag overnight) and place in the refrigerator overnight. If you don’t mariinate overnight, let sit for a few hours in the fridge.
Bring the brisket to room temperature prior to cooking.
Melt the butter and honey.
Preheat your oven to 220 F.
Tear off a couple of sheets of foil and place the brisket on top of the foil. (Do this prior to injecting or you will have a mess on your counter) Inject the brisket with the melted honey butter mixture.
Once you have injected all the butter honey mixture, wrap the brisket tightly in the foil. Make sure the brisket is FAT SIDE UP. (I wrapped my brisket with three layers of foil) Place in a pan the oven and let it roast at 220 F for 8-9 hours.
Remove from oven and let sit for 10-15 minutes. Slice AGAINST the grain.
Now, once your beef brisket is perfectly smoked and you are ready to eat the perfectly smoked beef brisket, you can either slice the brisket and eat it with some delicious sides OR you can turn it into the The Best Smoked Beef Brisket Sandwich — which my husband has dubbed — The Best Hangover Breakfast Sandwich in the world. Take the time, marinade the beef brisket the day before and set it in the oven to cook on low heat for the entire day. Do not touch it, peek at it or give it a good look over. Just let the beef brisket do its thing in the foil and steam and smoke right in your oven all day long. You won’t regret it. You will end up with the best smoked beef brisket.
There really is nothing better to cure all things than a smoked beef brisket sandwich on a pretzel bun! I smoked two 5 pound beef briskets so we could have the smoked beef brisket for another meal. This reicpe could easily be prepared using one smaller beef brisket as well. But, the beef brisket the next day almost tastes better than directly out of the oven. We cant’ decide which once is best!
