Keep Your Kids Motivated To Go Back To School

As the summer break comes to an end, I extend my warmest wishes to everyone for a rejuvenating and delightful vacation. Now, as we embark upon the new academic year, I hope that each and every one of you is brimming with energy and enthusiasm to dive into the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

No matter the grade level, the start of a new school year can bring mixed emotions for both parents and students. While I absolutely love the relaxed days of the holidays with my children, I also eagerly anticipate the return of a more structured routine once school starts again in January.

After taking a much-needed break, I want to create a positive and joyful environment in our classroom for both my students and myself. Although I was overjoyed that school started again, my children were not as excited. I heard numerous complaints and remarks about the unpleasantness of school. I thought to myself, 'I must find ways to maintain my children's enthusiasm for learning!'

I hold my children to high standards, which can sometimes be disheartening for them. Supporting my children's endeavors, beyond just their academic achievements, fosters their growth and sustains their enthusiasm. Education and momentum are closely intertwined, as I have discovered through my experiences over the years.

Starting the school year on a positive note can greatly impact the overall experience. I assist my children in maintaining organization by implementing effective study techniques tailored to their unique needs and leveraging their individual abilities. And let me tell you, each of my children has their own unique learning style. With our team's strong organization and preparedness, we are always equipped to handle any challenges that arise and maintain our focus.

One effective method to maintain motivation is by identifying the subjects and topics that truly ignite my children's interests. Discovering a topic that truly captivates my children ignites their enthusiasm for learning, and I am committed to nurturing this motivation. Regardless of my lack of interest in the subject, I am still just as enthusiastic as my children.

Here are some things I do to keep my children motivated about learning.

  • Get your hands on magazine subscriptions that cover your favorite topics

  • Enjoy cultural experiences by visiting museums, attending live performances, or immersing yourself in the beauty of symphonies.

  • Find a class or session in my community (I've even had local college students come in and help my children with their favorite subjects)

  • Rewards and incentives

When my children's curiosity fades, so does their motivation to learn. It's crucial to keep their curiosity alive to maintain their enthusiasm for learning. I've discovered that by keeping my curiosity levels stimulated, my motivation to learn is always heightened. Discover the wonders of your city and all the exciting opportunities it holds for you and your children. Embark on adventures and expand your knowledge as you explore the world around you. It will surely captivate children's interest as they acquire new knowledge.
