How To Make Your Own
Christmas Ball Ornaments
Dress up your Christmas tree this year with huge batches of ornaments. These quick - easy - to - make - ornaments will be the star attraction of your Christmas tree. The ornaments are crafted using purchased ball ornaments and a hot glue gun.
If you happen to have a gaggle of ball ornaments laying about your home that you have inherited from relatives or just simply or not using because they are not as shiny as they used to be; gather them all together. You could even use cracked ball ornaments easily in this project.
Instructions
Chose a single ball ornament to serve as the base of your ornament. The ball will be surrounded by other balls, so it does not need to be a flawless ball. Turn on your hot glue gun to low setting. Keep the top of this ball exposed as you will need to hang from this point. I actually glue two balls together and use both of the tops to hang the ornament as these ornaments can get quite heavy.
Use hot glue to attach two or three ball ornaments to the side of your base. Arrange the ball ornaments so that they radiate out from the center of the base top, like flower petals. Remember to place the top of the ornament towards the center so that it does not show. You don't need to space the balls evenly. Asymmetry and unevenness are part of the charm of the ornament. Allow a minute or two for the glue to set before gluing the next ball.
Fill the remainder of the space on the base ornament with other ball ornaments {varying sizes if you have them} and one or two more small ball ornaments according to what you think looks good. Fit the balls as close together as possible. Don't worry if your ornament looks haphazard; it's supposed to.
OPTIONAL: Cut a 14-inch length of grosgrain ribbon {or any other ribbon you may have on hand}. Tie the ribbon into a simple bow. Glue the bow to the top of the ornament, positioning the bow so that it hides the top/center of the balls. Trim the bow ends diagonally, to the length you desire.
Allow the glue to set for 15 minutes before lifting or hanging the NEW Ball Cluster Christmas ornament on your Christmas tree. Add extra hot glue to the tops of the balls that will be used to hang your ornament to make it more secure.
