Elf on the Shelf in Chicago | Week 1
Elf on the Shelf is a fun-filled Christmas Tradition for children everywhere. Here are some Elf on the Shelf ideas for your children to welcome one of Santa’s Elves in their home during each each holiday season.
Elf on the Shelf has returned for another year of fun antics. I'm happy to say that all my kiddos still very much believe in the magic of the Elf. I think my son knows, but doesn't want to know the truth of the matter. Thankfully, he has not voiced any doubts to his sisters.
We returned late in the evening on the eve of the 30th of November after spending time away with family for the holiday. Early December 1st I was sitting at my computer, of course, and I spied my daughter wandering about the house and I asked her what she was looking for. She replied, "The Elf, he didn't come! He forgot us!".
I looked at my husband and he pointed his finger at me and I looked aghast. I did forget! I told him to distract the kiddos and ran to my Elf hiding spot and quickly brought him upstairs and stuffed him far into the Christmas tree, because my daughter had literally scoured the entire house and there would be no other spot for the Elf to appear suddenly.
My husband coaxed my daughter into a spot where she could keep a keen eye on the tree and just barely spot him. The day was saved. Alas, I forgot to take a photo of Elf hiding in the tree on the very first day of my failure of the Elf.
