Something Lost Now Treasured
When I loved out of my parents house the day after I graduated from high school, I was allowed to take possessions I had purchased myself . . . and nothing more. Being only 18 years old, I didn't hold fast to any little bits of things I had received as gifts throughout my childhood. Over the years as I have matured, I certainly miss those little gifts I once had. Especially now that I have my own children as I would love to share those little treasures with them. All I have left are memories that I can share.
Until this past Thanksgiving, I thought a teeny tiny plastic tea set I had once had was one of those lost treasures. This mini tea set is a gift from my grandmother, well over 50 years old, as it was my aunt's when she was a child (she is now in her 60's). This past Thanksgiving, a tiny red box was handed over to me and I immediately recognized the box (that had my name written on it)! To my delight, the teeny tiny tea set was in the box! I couldn't believe it. I was so overjoyed as it is literally one of the only things I have from my childhood.
The little Raggedy Ann doll is something I did bring with me and it was a gift from another grandmother. I had this doll for years and years and she was in perfect condidtion. My girls were playing with it a couple of years ago and left it out and the dog got to it. I was devastated and still am. Need less to say, the dog no longer lives here!
