Peppermint Chocolate Chip Shake on New Year's Eve
I sit here thinking this morning that 2015 has come to an end and I don't even know how that happened. This past year has literally flown by in a couple blinks. 2015 has been the fastest passing year I have experience in my life. I'm not sure if that is good or not?
I've wished my friends in China and Australia a Happy New Year already and am all set to have a small party here with family tonight. My children area ll super excited as I have told them they can stay up as late as they want (well, really, until I fizzle out and decide to go to bed). But, they know I am a night owl and stay up usually until 2 am, so they have until that time to have loads of fun.
I think most parents send their kiddos to bed around 9 PM and have all the fun themselves. I have always done the same in the past, but my kids are a bit older now, so I will let them partake in the midnight festivities. Midnight, shmidnight, I say. I've never been one to celebrate. But my kiddos are so excited to stay up until midnight tonight!
Thankfully my kids will be able to celebrate a kid sized countdown with Netflix! I won't need to entertain them aside from the most famous 10 seconds of the year countdown with hats, streamers and noise makers.
Who will your kids be partying with on New Year's Eve?
Netflix has six on-demand countdown specials launching today, and my kids have already laid out the plan for tonight's countdown. Netflix has special countdowns with Oona and Baba of Puffin Rock, Care Bears & Cousins, Inspector Gadget, the Project Mc2 girls, and all of their DreamWorks Animation friends including King Julien and Mr. Peabody & Sherman.
No matter where you are, start your party -- anytime, anywhere -- New Year’s Eve Countdown on Netflix.
Recipe: Peppermint Chocolate Chip Shake
It’s going to be a cold winter night here in Chicago with snow on the ground. My kids have requested a special shake for the evenings festivities and I am happy to oblige. Here is a quick and simple drink to celebrate the new year and satisfy all those ice cream cravings!
Grab your blender and add a couple of large scoops of vanilla ice cream. Add 1 cup of milk, any kind will do. Crush some leftover holiday candy canes and add them in the blender(about 3 tablespoons). Toss in some chocolate chips(about ½ cup will do) and BLEND.
Pour into glass. Spray some whipped cream on top and sprinkle some more chocolate chips and crushed peppermint on top. ENJOY!!
