Chocolate Chip Cookies {in a jar} {Recipe}

Chocolate Chip Cookies, my friends encompass on the of the loves of my life in one simple bite or two. I had a few friends over last week and wanted to bake something special for everyone . . . and who doesn't like chocolate chip cookies? I wanted to jazz it up a bit and not just plop some cookies on a plate, so I came up with cookies in a jar.

I knew I had some {small} jelly jars in my basement from when the kiddos and I made homemade strawberry jam last year. So I simply rummaged around a bit for those and was ready to go. Next you need to mix up a batch of your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. If you are like me, you most likely use the basic Tollhouse recipe.

Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

{slightly modified for baking in jars}

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour {I added a bit more flour since I was baking these in the jars}

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 large eggs

  • 12-oz. pkg Chocolate Chips

Directions

PREHEAT oven to 375° F.

COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips.

SPRAY jars with non-stick cooking spray and fill jars half way with cookie dough.

BAKE for 12-15 minutes on an aluminum cookie sheet, the cookie dough will not be baked completely in the center {if you prefer your cookie less doughy, simply bake a few minutes longer}.  Remove from oven and let cool.

I simply tied some festive ribbon on the jars to create a stunning tablescape for my friends. I served the cookies in a jar with vanilla ice cream and spoons. Some requests were to heat the jars up and I just popped the jars in the microwave for about 15 seconds. Perfection!
