Apple Sangria
A Delicious Apple Sangria is the perfect way to end a beautiful Autumn Day. The absolute must-have sangria for this fall season, or perhaps for Thanksgiving, and also for Christmas, combines apples, wine and apple cider.
Fall is in full swing and there is no looking back. My fridge is full of apples, but fall apples recipes are not just about comfort foods and desserts and snacks.
Don't forget to enjoy a fall cocktail as well. I have the perfect beverage for you to sip on this fall. I will be serving this on Thanksgiving this year. Plus, it goes great with a crowd of guest who pop over for a visit.
Simply start with your favorite white wine, some sugar and loads of fall apples. This sangria has such a pretty color, it is hard to resist. My husband and his family really adore a refreshing sangria and this Apple Sangria has become a new fall favorite.
APPLE SANGRIA
1 bottle of your favorite white wine
½ cup white grape juice
¼ cup super fine sugar
¼ cup lemon juice
zest from 2 lemons
1 lemon sliced very thin
1 Granny Smith apple, cored & sliced very thin
2 tsp super fine sugar
1 can of seltzer
INSTRUCTIONS
In a large pitcher add the lemon juice, apple slices, lemon slices and pour the wine over the fruit. Place pitcher in refrigerator for about 4 hours because you really want the flavor of the wine to grab on to the flavor of the fruit. I actually do this the day before to really get the apple into the wine. But if you are in a pinch for time, 4 hours will do. Take out of the fridge and mix the juice, the lemon zest, and sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves. Add this mixture to your sodden apple wine and mix well. Just before serving, you can top the apple sangria off with some seltzer.
