The Thanksgiving holiday will be here before I know it. I have eight guests coming from out of state for the long Thanksgiving weekend and they will all be staying at my home. {I'm totally not crazy by the way} Right now I am prepping to get all the beds, bedrooms and bathrooms ready and prepare for all my overnight guests who will be here for four nights.

I am moving everyone in my family around and bed hopping a bit, but am super excited for the over night visits with family! I am ensuring both bathrooms and all the bedrooms are equipped with the seasonal essentials my guests will need while visiting the Chicago area.
I'm giving my brothers and their families the five-star treatment while they are here visiting for the long Thanksgiving weekend. Here are five easy ideas for prepping my home ahead of time, so my visiting family will feel at home while visiting from out of state.
Prepare For Holiday Guests
1. Prepare your guests’ space
I don't have a guest room, but I do have a big house with loads of bedrooms. I am moving my daughters out of their rooms and prepping those two bedrooms and an area in the basement for my overnight guests.
Fresh linens and a thorough cleaning are the first tasks to complete. I am clearing out a drawer and some space in the closets as well. I don't want my family to have to live out of their suitcases and bags for four days.
2. Prepare your guests’ bathroom
Be sure to clear out your personal belongings so your guests will have plenty of room to add their own items. Clean your shower and toilet so your guests are comfortable using your facilities. I suggest using Lysol as it kills 99.9% of bacteria on soft surfaces which is awesome because kids carry loads of germs.
Have the bathroom filled with essentials like Lysol soap. Also be sure to have towels in a visible location. Additionally, if you don’t normally have toilet tissue out on display, stick it in a cute basket and place it somewhere convenient.
3. Keep seasonal essentials at the ready
Keep seasonal essentials such as Kleenex, Lysol Wipes and Halls Defense Vitamin C Drops handy on a tabletop, in drawer or basket. Let your guests know where these items are so they can help themselves if the need arises. I also bought Kleenex Slim Packs and single packages of Premium Saltine Crackers for my family as we will be taking a day trip to Chicago on the train. We will have six kiddos with us and will need to wipe down loads of surfaces with Lysol Wipes too.
4. Simple gestures
Even though my brothers and their families have stayed in my home before, I want them to all feel at ease here. I have prepared an area in the guests' rooms that has simple items like magazines, Smartwater and Premium Saltine Crackers.
I plan on showing my guests where the kitchen essentials are kept in my house and that they are welcome to help themselves to anything. But I never know if my niece or my brothers will wake up in the middle of the night feeling parched, with a tummy ache, or get up early in the morning and I don't want anyone to feel awkward going through my pantry. Having simple items accessible is a simply a nice gesture.
5. Special gestures
In addition to the simple gestures, make sure your guests have everything they could possible think of at their fingertips. I have extra blankets and pillows near where they will sleep. I also included fans in all the rooms for those who might need a fan to sleep. I also include a handwritten card with the wifi password. This will help all the cousins stay connected to their friends back home.
